Construction of Water Pipeline

The MCC Compact supports LWSC provide safe drinking water to Monrovia and surroundings. The Compact funds the rehabilitation of the Raw Water Pipeline that runs 3.1 KM from the Mt. Coffee Hydro Power Plant to the White Plain Water Treatment Plant. The 48- inch diameter pipeline is a big improvement on the pre-war 36-inch diameter pipeline. The rehabilitated pipeline costs US$ 18M and will provide water to about 1.1 M people in Monrovia. The pipeline draws water from the Hydro to the White plain treatment plant without using electricity, saving LWSC US$ 130,000 monthly fuel cost for pumping water into Monrovia and surroundings. The pipeline will use gravity flow, cutting down the salt intrusion into the LWSC water system making it much safer for drinking.
